I’m a new writer here at UnNamedGaming, it’s nice to meet all you gamers out there. It seems that I was the lucky one to get to review the DS exclusive Grand Theft Auto: ChinaTown Wars from RockStar Games (a big thanks goes to them for sending us the game by the way!). The story line in the game is pretty exciting and plenty adventurous. In the game, you play as GTA newcomer, Huang Lee, that has traveled to Liberty City from China to find a sword that was stolen from his father when he was killed. Now that he is out for vengeance in Liberty City, this is where the fun begins.

The graphics in the game are great for the Nintendo DS. The game has an animated comic book visual style and gives you an overhead birds eye view of all the action. The game gives you plenty to do in the land of Liberty City, which is modeled after the GTA4 version of Liberty City by the way.

To aid you along your adventures, you have a PDA on the bottom screen that looks nice and really is loaded with alot features and comes in very handy during gameplay. You also have plenty of activities to do in the game that you just won’t find in any other recent GTA game that make great use of the DS touch screen abilities, such as the tatoo-ing mini game and other stuff such as lottery scratch cards and using cutting torches to open up armored vehicles, etc.

Overall, this game is a must have for the Nintendo DS. I felt the way that I am sure that most gamers felt when this title was first announced. I went into the game thinking that it would end up being just like the earlier top down GTA titles, but thankfully I was wrong in that assumption. With new multiplayer and co-op options, a ton of mini games and a very good use of the DS touch screen, GTA ChinaTown Wars should be among the top in the list of must have DS titles for any gamer, assuming that the DS gamer is over 18 of course, since this is a very M rated game.

THE GOOD- The PDA (it’s handy and is well designed). Great package of visuals and sound for a DS title. The amount of activities and mini-games will keep you hooked for a really long time. Lots of weapons in the game at your disposal.

THE BAD- The over the top view will take a little getting used to. The cops are way too touchy. The control of the motorcycles is rather twitchy. The auto-aim shooting doesn’t always aim where you want it to.

OVERALL- 9.0 Great game with lots of excitement!
